Building Connection, Creativity and Culture

Our Friday 6 February, Wellbeing Day provided students from Reception to Year 12 with a valuable opportunity to pause, connect and reflect, while building the foundations for a positive year ahead. Across the school, the day was thoughtfully designed to support wellbeing through movement, creativity, challenge and collaboration—empowering students to strengthen both their sense of self and their connection to others.

In the Junior School, students embraced a gentle and engaging introduction to wellbeing through a Movement & Mindfulness session led by GroundForce Studios. Through yoga-inspired movement, breathing exercises and relaxation techniques, students developed practical strategies to support calmness, focus and emotional regulation.

Year 7 students began the year by focusing on connection and building a strong sense of belonging within their cohort. A highlight of the day was the Nature Play SA incursion, where students explored the intersection of science, art and history through natural pigments.

Working in small groups, students experimented with creating their own paints from natural materials before producing a personal canvas to take home. This hands-on experience sparked creativity while reinforcing collaboration and curiosity.

For Year 8, the day followed a meaningful journey of Me – Us – Action. Students began with quiet reflection, inspired by the work of Dr Lea Waters, considering how their daily choices shape not only their own wellbeing but also the experience of those around them.

Building on this, students collaborated to define what a strong and positive Year 8 culture looks like. They then brought these ideas to life by creating visual pledges aligned with the school’s Wellbeing Framework—outlining how they will contribute to a supportive and inclusive community.

The day concluded with an energetic visit to Cirkidz, where students stepped outside their comfort zones through activities such as trampolining, aerial silks and juggling. The willingness to try new challenges and support one another reflected the culture they are actively building together.

Year 9 students took their wellbeing beyond the classroom at TreeClimb Adelaide. Navigating high ropes and obstacle courses, students were challenged both physically and mentally.

Throughout the experience, they practised resilience, composure and teamwork—developing confidence as they supported one another through each new challenge.

Year 10 and 11 students spent the day on campus, focusing on connection and collaboration. Working in mixed groups, they participated in a range of activities centred around the six key elements of the school’s Wellbeing Framework: Respect, Resilience, Self-Regulation, Responsibility, Relationships and Resourcefulness.

In the afternoon, students turned their attention to shaping the culture of their cohort. Through thoughtful discussion and shared ideas, they began developing the 2026 Positive Culture Pledge—demonstrating a strong commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.

Our Year 12 students spent the day at Ayers House, where they spent time in reflection and renewal; participating in activities including drumming, mindful yoga and a walk through the Adelaide Botanic Garden.

As our Senior Class begins their final year, this experience is designed to support balance, connection and wellbeing during an important stage of their journey.

A Shared Commitment to Wellbeing

Across all year levels, Wellbeing Day highlighted the importance of connection, self-awareness and community. From mindful movement in the Junior School to leadership and reflection in the Senior Years, students were encouraged to take ownership of their wellbeing and contribute positively to the culture of their school.

Together, these experiences set a strong foundation for a year defined by respect, resilience and belonging.
