Co-Curricular

Learn about the various co-curricular activities St Dominic's offers Junior School students.

Sport

Girls at St Dominic’s take part in our specialist Physical Education Program from the start of school and all throughout their school life. This consists of weekly lessons across sports like soccer, dance, gymnastics, hockey, and tennis – so that all our girls get the chance to build their fitness through physical activities that excite and energise them.  From Year 1, students also engage in DECD Water Safety lessons, building confidence and essential skills in aquatic environments.

We have visiting coaches and clinics across many sports, plus instructors in fitness and exercise activities like yoga to further broaden the program.

  • Junior School students at St Dominic’s have a wide range of opportunities to participate in representative and competitive sport, both during and outside school hours. Students participate in School Sport SA SAPSASA North Adelaide District competitions and participation carnivals through both SAPSASA and SACPSSA (Catholic Primary Schools), providing inclusive opportunities for students to experience team sport and foster sportsmanship and community connection.  Older Junior School students may also trial for School Sport SA Statewide Schools Competitions, developing advanced skills and teamwork as they compete at a state level.

    School-based sports include:

    • Athletics
    • Badminton
    • 3v3 Basketball
    • Cross Country
    • Hot Shots Tennis

In addition to school-based sport, students can access a range of after-school extracurricular sporting opportunities, including Thunder Cup Netball, Gather Round AFL activities, Auskick (Term 2), and netball lessons, supporting skill development, confidence and a lifelong love of sport.

  • One of the highlights of the St Dominic’s Priory College sporting calendar is our Track and Field Day, which sees students from Years 3–12 compete in traditional events. This is followed by our Twilight Sports Day, where families from Reception to Year 12 come together to watch their daughters compete in ball games, athletics and novelty events—celebrating school spirit and a little friendly competition.
