Student Leadership

Learn how our Junior School students are involved in our student leadership.

More Opportunities to Shine

At St Dominic’s Priory College, we believe every student has something valuable to contribute, and our role is to nurture each girl’s strengths, encourage her interests, and provide meaningful opportunities to lead.

Leadership begins in Reception and continues throughout a student’s journey to Year 12. Across the Junior School, students are encouraged to develop confidence, responsibility, and initiative within a supportive and values-driven environment. These early experiences lay the foundation for future leadership, both within the College and beyond.

Student Representative Council (SRC)

Each class elects two Student Representatives who help foster a positive and inclusive learning environment. Junior School SRC members meet regularly to share ideas, raise student voice, and contribute to initiatives that enhance school life.

As students move into the upper years, their leadership responsibilities grow. From Years 5–12, representatives play an active role in generating enthusiasm within their Home Class and across the College, while also supporting community outreach and service initiatives. Through the SRC, students learn collaboration, communication, and advocacy skills in authentic and purposeful ways.

House Leadership

Every St Dominic’s student belongs to one of our four Houses, each connected to a patron saint whose life and values inspire a strong sense of community, faith, and belonging. The House system fosters connection across year levels and encourages healthy participation, teamwork, and school spirit.

Each House is led by two Year 12 Captains, two Year 11 Captains, and two Junior House Captains from Year 6. Together, they build House pride, strengthen relationships, and guide students through shared experiences, celebrations, and College events.

Year 6 Leadership

Year 6 is a significant year of growth and transition. As the leaders of the Junior School, our Year 6 students are supported to step confidently into roles that reflect their strengths and passions. Leadership opportunities may include:

  • Catholic Schools Music Festival Choir Leaders
  • Junior House Captains
  • Liturgy and Prayer Leaders
  • School Tour Guides
  • Social Justice Leader
  • Traffic Helpers
  • Little Doms Transition Support Leaders

Through these varied roles, our Year 6 girls develop responsibility, empathy and initiative, modelling positive leadership for younger students and preparing themselves for the next stage of their learning journey. At St Dominic’s, leadership is not simply about holding a title, it is about service, integrity, and the courage to make a positive difference.
