Our Uniform

Throughout our history, the College uniform has remained loyal to the colours of French navy, white, and grey.

New College Uniform

At the beginning of 2025, St Dominic’s Priory College launched a new academic uniform. In place of seasonal Summer and Winter requirements, the uniform now features a versatile selection of interchangeable pieces, designed for year-round wear.

Throughout our 140-year history, the College uniform has remained loyal to the colours of French navy, white, and grey. In 2021, we embarked on a journey to collaborate with our community, seeking feedback on what is valued in the current uniform. We collated this feedback, mapped trends, and visited the archives to learn about the evolution of our uniform over time.

The same items were now worn by all the students. The regulation winter tunic was converted into the winter skirt during the 1970s.

1950s

The first summer uniform was introduced, and was French navy with a check pattern around the collars and cuffs. The beret was also introduced in this decade.

The grey summer dress was introduced following a shortage of blue uniform fabric.

Drawing on this information, designs were produced and further feedback was sought to refine them. Sample uniforms were then created and presented to the College Board, students, staff, and our Parents & Friends for input. After incorporating minor edits, the finalised designs were unveiled to the wider College Community in September 2024.

The new academic uniform is available to purchase now, from Campus School & College Wear.

Frequently Asked Questions

Design Process

  • At the commencement of the 2025 academic year, St Dominic’s Priory College introduced a new academic uniform featuring a versatile selection of interchangeable pieces designed for year-round wear. Students now have the option to choose from various items, with essential formal components including; blazer, hat, jumper, official hair accessory, socks and black school shoes, that unify the uniform. The ‘Formal Uniform’ will be mandatory for special College events.

On regular school days, students can adapt their outfits based on the weather by layering their chosen garments with knitwear, such as a vest, and may wear navy tights with certain items, when appropriate. The blazer and hat will consistently serve as the outer garments.

  • St Dominic’s Priory College engaged Noone, a leading Australian uniform designer and current supplier, to collaborate on redesigning the school uniform. Noone worked closely with Campus School & College Wear and the Deputy Principal, Muriel Noujaim, to develop a range of uniform items.

The design process incorporated data from a community survey and the College’s uniform archives to create pieces that optimise comfort and design for each student, while preserving the historical elements of the St Dominic’s Priory College colours and brand identity – French navy, grey, white, and black.

The College community was extensively consulted throughout the uniform redesign process, providing feedback at various stages. This journey began in 2021 and input was considered during the storyboarding and design phases.

The College is very pleased with the final uniform design, which offers a renewed look and feel, while maintaining the College’s distinctive identity in the community.

  • Yes. All students were given the opportunity to provide feedback throughout the uniform development process. Since the uniform is worn by the students, their thoughts and ideas were crucial in shaping a new design.  This ensures the girls feel comfortable, proud, and truly embody the spirit of being a student at St Dominic’s Priory College.

  • The designers at Noone considered both other schools’ colours and our own St Dominic’s Priory College brand. Considerable attention was given to the historical colour palette and uniform history of St Dominic’s Priory College during the research phase. Striking a balance between remaining true to who we are as a College and maintaining differentiation from other education providers, was an important part of the design process.

  • The St Dominic’s Priory College PE/Sports uniform will remain the same. Changes were made to this uniform in 2022.

Transition Period

  • The three-year transition period began at the commencement of Term 1, 2025, and will conclude at the end of Term 4, 2027.

  • Yes. Campus Schoolwear will have a limited stock to service those families who choose to wear the outgoing seasonal uniform for the next 3 years. Brown school shoes remain available from Clarks and Ollie Ashenden Children’s Shoes.

  • New students starting at St Dominic’s Priory College are encouraged to wear the new uniform. However, they may continue to purchase and wear uniform items from the outgoing range until the end of Term 4, 2027.

  • No. Students must either wear the outgoing uniform or the new uniform—not a mix of both—on any given day. For the outgoing uniform, this includes following the summer/winter uniform rules.

  • During the transition period, students are not required to wear the same uniform for their annual school photo day. They can choose to wear either the outgoing or the new uniform. Special attention will be given to the arrangement of students in the photos to ensure an aesthetically pleasing photo is captured.

  • Once the old St Dominic’s Priory College uniform items can no longer be used, Noone will implement a program that allows these outdated uniforms to be donated to less privileged communities overseas. They partner with Rotary’s “Donations in Kind” initiative, which collects and distributes excess and obsolete uniforms to countries in need. Families wishing to donate their old uniforms to Donations in Kind are invited to drop their uniforms off at Campus School Wear; who will accept:

    • Uniforms in good condition.  They will not send uniforms in disrepair.
    • All items must be clean/washed.

Any items that are not in good condition and which do not contain a logo (all garments, with the exception of the blazer) can otherwise be placed in your nearest Vinnies Bin.

Purchasing Information

  • Yes.  All students at St Dominic’s will be able to access the same uniform.  Junior School students in Reception – Year 3, will have the additional option of play-based shorts and the pinafore dress for purchase.

  • No. A student does not need to have all the items in the new uniform. The uniform is designed to offer choice for students and their families. The only mandatory garments are blazer, hat, jumper, official hair accessory, socks and black school shoes.

The all-seasons wardrobe aims to encourage students to select items that they find comfortable and that reflect their individual style, providing flexibility to wear a uniform that suits their daily learning needs.

  • The new uniform is designed as an all-seasons uniform, eliminating the distinction between ‘summer’ and ‘winter’ options. Students can choose from a variety of items throughout the year or opt to wear a consistent type of garment.

The only mandatory purchases will be the blazer, hat, jumper, official hair accessory, socks and black school shoes. For more details, please refer to the College Uniform Policy.

  • Yes. The cost impact on families was a top priority in the uniform review process. The College is mindful of the financial burden that purchasing a school uniform places on parents and undertook a thoughtful approach to implementing a generous transition period and carefully setting the price of each item.

While more choices are available to students, the College aims to reduce costs by limiting the number of items that need to be purchased in a given year and across each student’s schooling journey. The all-seasons approach ensures that any item can be worn throughout the year, eliminating the need for different uniforms required in various terms.

A price list is available from Campus and School & College Wear, our Uniform Shop.

  • The new College uniform can be purchased from Campus and School & College Wear. Located at Shop 3/54-56 Grange Road, Welland.

Wearing the Uniform

  • The College Uniform Policy is accessible here:

  • Students can select from a suite of items, with blazer, hat, jumper, official hair accessory, socks and black school shoes as formal pieces that draw the uniform together.  These will create a collectively cohesive look. The ‘Formal Uniform’ will be required for special College events.

Students who participate in a formal occasion outside of the College will also be required to wear their school hat.
