Welcome to the 2026 School Year
As we begin the 2026 school year, we extend a warm welcome to our families, both those returning and those new to St Dominic’s Priory College. May the holiday period have offered time for rest, renewal, and connection, and the year ahead begin with a sense of optimism and confidence.
We commence the year guided by our theme Abundant Blessings, Blessed – Being a Blessing. This theme reminds us that education at St Dominic’s is about more than academic achievement alone; it is about formation, who our girls are becoming, how they come to understand themselves and others, and how they are encouraged to contribute generously and thoughtfully to the world.
Our first opportunity to gather as a community and celebrate our abundant blessings will be our Family Mass on Sunday 8 February. We welcome new and returning families to join staff and students in celebrating the beginning of the 2026 school year. Mass will begin in the College Hall at 9:30am, and be followed by Morning Tea.
Much is unfolding in our world that invites strong opinion and debate. In these times, our Dominican tradition offers a steady foundation through discernment and dialogue, practices that teach our students to pause, listen deeply, and seek truth with humility and care. As a Catholic community, we trust that the Gospel continues to speak into every age, offering wisdom, compassion, and hope amid complexity.
At St Dominic’s, we hold firmly to what we know to be true: the inherent dignity of every person, the importance of seeking wisdom rather than noise, and the courage to act with integrity. These values shape the learning environments we create, the relationships we nurture, and the expectations we hold for ourselves and for our students. We do not seek to withdraw our girls from the world, but to prepare them to engage with it thoughtfully, confidently, and graciously.
Choosing a girls’ education is a significant and intentional decision. Your choice of St Dominic’s affirms your belief in the power of an environment where girls are encouraged to think deeply, lead courageously, and grow with confidence. Here, your daughters are known and valued as individuals, with their gifts, questions, and potential held carefully by staff who are deeply committed to their care and formation.
We were delighted to conclude 2025 celebrating the achievements of the Class of 2025. Their results reflect sustained commitment, focus, and perseverance, supported by dedicated teachers and a strong culture of learning. We congratulate all our graduates, acknowledging our Dux and Proximae Accessit recipients, and give thanks for the many successes that extend well beyond results alone.
The achievements of these students will be acknowledged at our Merit & High Achievers' Assembly on Thursday 5 February.

School Safe Home Safe
As we look ahead to the year, student wellbeing and safety remain paramount. In 2026, the College will launch the School Safe Home Safe road safety campaign. This initiative was inspired by discussion at a 2025 Parents and Friends meeting and has been co-created with parents Emilia and Greg Pace.
Our intention is to improve safety for students at the beginning and end of the school day and will involve some changes to collection procedures. More detailed information has been sent home with your daughters, and is published on the College website.
An in-person presentation of this student safety initiative will form part of the proceedings at our Family Welcome & Information Evening on Monday 9 February (Rec - Year 11) and Year 12 Parent Evening on Monday 16 February.
We thank families in advance for their support in helping us create a safer environment for all.
As we begin the year, we remain mindful of those in our wider world who have experienced loss, fear, and uncertainty. We also give thanks for those who choose kindness, justice, and truth, often quietly and without recognition. These are the values we seek to model for our girls each day, and we are grateful to partner with families in this shared responsibility.
Thank you for entrusting your daughters to St Dominic’s Priory College. We look forward to another year of learning, growth, and shared hope, confident in the blessings that lie ahead.
