Student Leadership

Learn how our middle school students are involved in our student leadership.

As girls step into Middle School, they bring growing confidence, a keen sense of justice, and a natural capacity to influence for good.

At St Dominic’s, Middle School Student Leaders are entrusted with meaningful opportunities to lead and serve. Elected by their peers, they learn to listen well, act with integrity, and lead with courage, supporting other girls, contributing to College life, and strengthening the spirit of community that helps our school flourish.

Student Representative Council (SRC)

Every class elects two Student Representatives to help strengthen a supportive, positive learning environment for their teachers and classmates.

From Reception to Year 12, SRC Representatives take on an increasingly active role in College life, building spirit and belonging in their Home Class, amplifying student voice, and contributing to community outreach initiatives that reflect our shared commitment to service.

Prefects

Prefects are senior leaders of our student community who serve as positive role models across the College and at key events throughout the year. Our Prefect team are elected members of Years 11 and 12 cohorts. The team consists of Head Prefects, SRC Prefects, Mission Prefects, Arts Prefects, Wellbeing Prefects and Sports Prefects.

House Leadership

Every St Dominic’s student belongs to one of our four Houses, each connected to a patron saint whose life and values inspire a strong sense of community, faith, and belonging. The House system fosters connection across year levels and encourages healthy participation, teamwork, and school spirit.

Each House is led by two Year 12 Captains, two Year 11 Captains, and two Junior House Captains from Year 6. Together, they build House pride, strengthen relationships, and guide students through shared experiences, celebrations, and College events.

Mission Leaders

Learning to understand and support the needs of others is an important part of our school values, and our Catholic roots. Our students are integral to this mission, and are led in their efforts by three Mission Prefects; two from Year 12 and one from Year 11.

Arts Leadership

Musically-minded senior students also have the opportunity to take on the role of Arts Prefects. Two Year 12 students and a Year 11 student hold this joint role and are responsible in leading;

  • Choirs
  • String Orchestra
  • Concert Orchestra
  • Senior Vocal Ensemble
