Year 1 Learning

Year 1 students have been developing their number knowledge by exploring how to represent numbers to 30, using groups of 10 and some ‘more’, showing great curiosity and engagement.

We have also begun a new social skills program called What’s the Buzz, which supports students in building positive relationships alongside understanding social situations.

We began our reading pairs in Week 2 where we practice reading words with the sounds we have been taught in our InitiaLit phonics lessons. In reading pairs, we become ‘teachers’ for each other by listening carefully to our partner and giving feedback on their reading.

One of the highlights in the classroom has been our very own in-house pizza shop, where our Year 1 chefs have been creating and sharing many delicious meals. This play has been thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.
