Term 1 so Far in the Technology Faculty

The Technology Faculty warmly welcomes all students and families to a brand new semester. It has been a dynamic and productive first five weeks, with exciting learning experiences across multiple year levels.

The Year 10 class has been developing advanced photography techniques, including compression and the effective use of telephoto lenses. In Week 5, students visited Adelaide Zoo, where they practised telephotography in a real-world setting, capturing wildlife while applying their understanding of focal length and perspective. They are now working on designing a promotional flyer for Adelaide Zoo, demonstrating their knowledge of the design cycle and key graphic design principles.

Year 8 students have been immersed in both computer hardware and coding units. They have developed practical skills by carefully opening e-waste laptops to identify and analyse internal hardware components, strengthening their understanding of how devices function. Alongside this, students have been introduced to Python programming, exploring how programming languages work and learning foundational coding concepts and functions. It has been wonderful to see their curiosity grow as they begin to understand the logic behind technology they use regularly.

The relaunch of Chess Club in 2026 has been a great success, with strong interest and enthusiastic participation. Held every Monday at lunchtime for students in Years 7–12, the club provides an opportunity to enjoy a friendly game or two while strengthening strategic thinking, problem-solving skills, and social connections. Gaming Club continues to thrive and is open to Years 9–12 every Wednesday and Friday lunchtime. Students are enjoying new games together, building teamwork skills, digital literacy, and positive peer relationships while unwinding after a busy week.

We are also excited to announce that we are now calling for students to represent our school at the FUSE Cup 2026 – Australia’s largest school esports competition.

Following our outstanding results last year, we are eager to build strong teams again in 2026.

Year 9–12 Division

We are also seeking students to participate in this exciting online competition:

The Technology Faculty remains committed to inspiring students to be innovative, resilient, and confident in their learning journey. We look forward to another year filled with creativity, collaboration, and technological exploration.
