2026 Fuse Cup

Over the past three days, a selected group of students from Years 6–11 competed in the Fuse Cup across a range of esports competitions and divisions.

We congratulate all students who participated and gave their best effort throughout the event. We are especially proud to celebrate our Years 5–8 Just Dance team: Isabelle Nguyen 8W, Gursirat Kaur 7B, Aryana Fatah 7G, Esmee Pradhan 6G, who were crowned State Champions for the second consecutive year. We also congratulate our Mario Kart competitors, with multiple players achieving Top 16 placements across both the Years 5–8 and Years 9–12 divisions.

FUSE cup was genuinely one of the best experiences of this year! Though it was extremely nerve-wracking, as I had never been before, the atmosphere was amazing, it was really fun and informative watching and interacting with the other players and I feel as if I've improved many skills by just being part of the experience!

The Just Dance team will now represent South Australia at the National Grand Final in November, and we wish them every success as they prepare for this exciting opportunity.

I really valued the experience because, not only was I able to fight people with new techniques and characters- I was also able to cheer on my teammates and players from other schools. The atmosphere was great and people, despite coming from other schools, were cheering for us and complementing our playstyle; an opponent even telling me he admired my character's combos. It was overall an amazing time, especially watching the professional players go head-to-head and win by such a narrow margin!

Throughout the competition, our students demonstrated the College's 6Rs: Responsibility, Respect, Resourcefulness, Regulation, Resilience, and Relationships. Whether competing in challenging matches, supporting teammates, showing good sportsmanship, managing setbacks, or celebrating the success of others, our students represented SDPC with pride and integrity.

LEARNING AREA LEADER - TECHNOLOGY

Competing in the Fuse Cup competition for Mario Kart 8, taught me many beneficial skills which I can carry over into my academic studies and real life. I was able to develop connections with people from other schools and engage in friendly conversation, as well as learning how to stay calm in high-pressure environments. We also learnt about how to stay safe online while gaming, reinforcing our esafety topics in pastoral care. Thank you to my teammates who diligently practiced for this day and Ms. Weller for organising this opportunity and transport. I had a great time and hope to compete next year to maintain these skills!
