College Board Membership

St Dominic’s Priory College invites Expressions of Interest from individuals who are willing to offer their professional expertise and commitment in service of the governance of our College, either as a Director of the College Board or as a member of a Board Sub-Committee. Applicants who have previously lodged an expression of interest for Board appointment will automatically be included. No additional submission is required.  

This invitation arises following the retirement of several valued Directors and as part of our ongoing commitment to strong, mission-centred governance. 

About The College

Founded by the Dominican Sisters of North Adelaide, St Dominic’s Priory College educates girls from Reception to Year 12 in the Catholic Dominican tradition of Veritas (Truth).

As a Dominican Catholic girls’ College, we are committed to truth-centred education, intellectual rigour, stewardship, dignity of the human person, and the formation of young women of confidence and purpose. 

Governance Context

St Dominic’s Priory College is a Ministry of Dominican Education Australia (DEA), the Ministerial Public Juridic Person (MPJP) entrusted with governance of the College.

The College Board operates under the Corporations Act 2001 (Cwlth) and works in partnership with the College Principal to:

  • Safeguard the Catholic and Dominican identity of the College
  • Provide strategic oversight and policy governance
  • Ensure prudent financial stewardship and sustainability
  • Support master planning and long-term viability
  • Uphold risk management and regulatory compliance 

Directors are appointed by the Trustees of Dominican Education Australia in accordance with the Protocols for the Appointment of Directors to Ministry Boards (Working Draft, December 2025)  

Board Directors

  • At this time, we particularly welcome interest from individuals with expertise in:

    • Governance and regulatory compliance
    • Finance, accounting, audit or strategic financial oversight
    • Risk management frameworks
    • Property development, infrastructure or master planning 

    Directors must demonstrate:

    • A comprehensive understanding of the role of Board Governance  
    • An understanding of, and commitment to, Catholic education
    • Respect for and willingness to undertake formation in the Dominican charism
    • Capacity for collaborative, strategic governance
    • Alignment with the mission and stewardship responsibilities of a Catholic school 

Board Sub-Committee Membership

  • Seeking expertise in:

    • Accounting, audit or finance
    • Risk management and compliance
    • Governance frameworks
    • Strategic financial planning
    • Asset and investment oversight 
  • Seeking expertise in:

    • Architecture and campus master planning
    • Urban development
    • Construction and project delivery
    • Heritage conservation (desirable)
    • Property and facilities strategy 

Committee members provide professional insight and strategic advice in alignment with the College’s mission. Meetings are generally held once per term, with additional involvement during key project phases.

Eligibility & Eoi Requirements

In accordance with DEA protocols, Expressions of Interest for Board Director roles must include:

A cover letter outlining: 

  • Relevant professional expertise
  • Alignment with the mission of Catholic education
  • Any connection to St Dominic’s Priory College
  • Recent or current connection to a faith community 

A current CV including: 

  • Two referees
  • One referee able to speak to the applicant’s capacity to contribute to the religious stewardship of a Catholic school
  • Any qualifications or experience in Catholic education (if applicable) 

Shortlisted candidates will participate in a formal interview process involving the College Board Chair and representatives of Dominican Education Australia, with final appointment determined by the DEA Trustees.
