| My daughter is in the Junior School. Does she have a formal College uniform?
Yes. All students at St Dominic’s will be able to access the same uniform. Junior School students in Reception – Year 3, will have the additional option of play-based shorts and the pinafore dress for purchase.
| The new uniform seems to have a lot of items. Does a student need them all?
No. A student does not need to have all the items in the new uniform. The uniform is designed to offer choice for students and their families. The only mandatory garments are blazer, hat, jumper, official hair accessory, socks and black school shoes.
The all-seasons wardrobe aims to encourage students to select items that they find comfortable and that reflect their individual style, providing flexibility to wear a uniform that suits their daily learning needs.
| Does the new uniform offer a specific summer / winter option?
The new uniform is designed as an all-seasons uniform, eliminating the distinction between ‘summer’ and ‘winter’ options. Students can choose from a variety of items throughout the year or opt to wear a consistent type of garment.
The only mandatory purchases will be the blazer, hat, jumper, official hair accessory, socks and black school shoes. For more details, please refer to the College Uniform Policy.
| Did the College consider the cost impact on families?
Yes. The cost impact on families was a top priority in the uniform review process. The College is mindful of the financial burden that purchasing a school uniform places on parents and undertook a thoughtful approach to implementing a generous transition period and carefully setting the price of each item.
While more choices are available to students, the College aims to reduce costs by limiting the number of items that need to be purchased in a given year and across each student’s schooling journey. The all-seasons approach ensures that any item can be worn throughout the year, eliminating the need for different uniforms required in various terms.
