GENERAL QUESTIONS

|         What is happening with the St Dominic’s Priory College uniform?

At the commencement of the 2025 academic year, St Dominic’s Priory College introduced a new academic uniform featuring a versatile selection of interchangeable pieces designed for year-round wear. Students now have the option to choose from various items, with essential formal components including; blazer, hat, jumper, official hair accessory, socks and black school shoes, that unify the uniform. The ‘Formal Uniform’ will be mandatory for special College events.

On regular school days, students can adapt their outfits based on the weather by layering their chosen garments with knitwear, such as a vest, and may wear navy tights with certain items, when appropriate. The blazer and hat will consistently serve as the outer garments.

|         How did the College decide what should be the new uniform?

St Dominic’s Priory College engaged Noone, a leading Australian uniform designer and current supplier, to collaborate on redesigning the school uniform. Noone worked closely with Campus School & College Wear and the Deputy Principal, Muriel Noujaim, to develop a range of uniform items.

The design process incorporated data from a community survey and the College’s uniform archives to create pieces that optimise comfort and design for each student, while preserving the historical elements of the St Dominic’s Priory College colours and brand identity – French navy, grey, white, and black.

The College community was extensively consulted throughout the uniform redesign process, providing feedback at various stages. This journey began in 2021 and input was considered during the storyboarding and design phases.

The College is very pleased with the final uniform design, which offers a renewed look and feel, while maintaining the College’s distinctive identity in the community.

|         Were students involved in this process?

Yes. All students were given the opportunity to provide feedback throughout the uniform development process. Since the uniform is worn by the students, their thoughts and ideas were crucial in shaping a new design.  This ensures the girls feel comfortable, proud, and truly embody the spirit of being a student at St Dominic’s Priory College.

|         Were the uniform colours and designs worn by other Adelaide Schools, considered?

The designers at Noone considered both other schools’ colours and our own St Dominic’s Priory College brand. Considerable attention was given to the historical colour palette and uniform history of St Dominic’s Priory College during the research phase. Striking a balance between remaining true to who we are as a College and maintaining differentiation from other education providers, was an important part of the design process.

|         Will there be a new PE/Sports Uniform?

The St Dominic’s Priory College PE/Sports uniform will remain the same. Changes were made to this uniform in 2022.
